Responsible for the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of training programs to support financial aid personnel.  Primary responsibility is to develop and implement effective learning experiences, leveraging instructional design concepts, instructor led training, and self-study to achieve measurable results.
  
This position is expected to apply Financial Aid (industry) knowledge along with internal procedural (company) knowledge to ensure employees have the capability to service our students effectively and bring value to the organization.  Individuals in this role must maintain a high level of industry and procedural knowledge to effectively perform the role and ensure compliance with Department of Education regulation.
  • Creates interactive, impactful learning solutions to improve employee performance and productivity
  • Conducts needs analysis to identify training needs
  • Creates design documents outlining course objectives, content, assessment, and evaluation criteria
  • Develops instructional materials and content for training programs using effective instructional design methodologies and technologies
  • Partners with FA Directors, Managers and Team Leads to identify needs and develop and implement training solutions
  • Liaisons with Subject Matter Experts, as needed, to develop and deliver learning solutions 
  • Partners with FA Policy team to  ensure training content meets policy guidelines
  • Maintains existing training materials and programs, and updates as necessary
  • Develops assessments and metrics to gauge employee performance improvements; presents results along with plans for continued improvement
  • Creates and maintains project plans to ensure timely delivery of training materials and programs
  • Communicates training plans, activities, and outcomes to appropriate stakeholders on a timely basis
  • Stays current on the latest training and development methods and technologies
  • Attains and maintains knowledge of Financial Aid concepts as well as an understanding of CEC Financial Aid awarding and back office (i.e. disbursement) procedures
  • Performs other duties as requested by the Director of Training & Development to support the training team
  • Provides job assistance and guidance to staff as needed

  • Is a role model for compliance of FA regulation and guidelines
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities, Competencies
  • Proficient use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher 
  • Knowledge of ADDIE framework, best practices and technologies, including ISD concepts
  • Strong facilitation skills
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to manage conflict, persuade others, and coach effectively
  • Strong collaboration and teaming skills
  • Strong organizational, administrative, record keeping & time management skills
  • Financial Aid Industry Knowledge (Preferred)
  • Proficient with Captivate and/or Articulate  (Preferred)

 

Education and Experience:  Minimum
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (i.e. business) from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
  • 5+ years of Financial Aid Advising and/or Processing experience OR
    • 3+ years in a training and development role supporting a line of business
    • 2+ years of instructional design experience
    • 2+ years of designing blended learning solutions
    • 2+ years of classroom facilitation experience
 
Education and Experience:  Preferred
  • 3+ years of e-learning development experience, using either Captivate or Articulate
  • Experience using virtual classroom technologies (i.e. Webex, Go-to-Webinar, etc.)
  • Gamification experience
  • Instructional Design and/or e-Learning Certification
