CTU is seeking a Marketing Manager – Content that will produce and deliver engaging content to a wide array of audiences. This position sits within the brand marketing team and is based in the university’s campus support center in Schaumburg, IL (Chicago).

For this role, CTU is seeking an experienced content producer to tell our most compelling brand stories and expand our online presence to drive strong digital performance. The ideal candidate thrives on being challenged and is enthusiastic about working in a fast-paced environment.  We’re looking for someone who can balance creativity with a process-driven mindset and use data to prioritize and make decisions. The marketing team is highly entrepreneurial, so we need a self-directed subject-matter expert who can amplify our content practices.


PLANNING AND WORKFLOW

  • Manage all steps of content creation – planning, development, compliance approvals, distribution
  • Create editorial calendars that incorporate business objectives, customer needs and search trends
  • Develop freelance relationships and manage writers who create content on our behalf
  • Collaborate with creative team on photography, graphics, video production
  • Establish and manage workflow process  – drafts, reviews, approvals, proofreading, fact checks
  • Participate in the implementation of platforms, tools, and library solutions as needed

PRODUCTION

  • Manage 2-5 freelance writers and editors to execute high-volume, editorial content production
  • Manage marketing agencies for key content projects or message development
  • Develop content, such as SEO and consumer website copy, landing page offers and social media posts
  • Partner with academic leadership and student-facing teams to source subject-matter expertise
  • Manage short and long format article writing for any digital or print channel; write if needed
  • Create and uphold editorial standards – tone, style, naming conventions for continuity / clarity
  • Maintain knowledge of SEO best practices, train and lead writers on effectively using them

ACTIVATION

  • Distribute content on websites, landing pages and among external influencers
  • Implement new ways to extend content exposure and support reputation – links back to owned channels, paid amplification, syndication, publishing platforms, creator partnerships, etc.
  • Develop and implement inbound marketing using tools like Hubspot, Contently, or others
  • Stay on top of new editorial, social and publishing platforms, ensuring that CTU’s story breaks through the clutter and reaches its intended audience in differentiated ways

MEASURE AND OPTIMIZE

  • Develop goal-based KPIs for content initiatives and report on performance
  • Evaluate education competitors, as well as leaders in content marketing, to refine and stay fresh

OTHER

·         Other content tasks as assigned to support university initiatives

·         Serve as advisor or execute content for the university or at the Colorado campuses as needed



Education and Experience:  Minimum

·         Bachelor's degree in marketing or comms field

·         5-7 years of experience in content creation, with high volume production experience

·         Record of delivering effective SEO-driving content for direct response B2C marketing or within an online or digitally-focused business



Education and Experience:  Preferred

·         Blend of start-up or agency experience in addition to recent role in an established enterprise

·         Experience in a high-volume, direct response marketing organization

·         History of copywriting, editing, or proofreading marketing content or scripts



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities, Competencies

·         Passion for deep storytelling, simplifying complex topics, connecting people to value, and genuine excitement for well-done content

·         Knack for managing writers with an eye for quality content, and ability to edit if needed

·         Expertise with producing compelling content marketing across all devices (web, mobile, tablet)

·         Substantial depth in online content distribution, syndication, and support for native advertising

·         Digital fluency and comfort with modern tools/channels where consumers engage with content

·         Skill for getting things done quickly without sacrificing quality, ability to prioritize for top impact

·         Ability to identify and deliver upon clearly articulated content metrics

·         History as an effective self-starter with ability to project manage large scale efforts

·         Experience effectively coaching and managing teams, including content creators and influencers

·         Proven problem solving ability with ability to generate creative ideas and break those solutions down into iterative improvements

·         An eye for user experience and effective communication

·         Eagerness to work with smart people to solve complex problems and a knack for collaborating with people in all roles and levels of an organization

·         Drive to take initiative when needed while balancing team approach to a content practice

·         High standards for grammatical accuracy and joy for writing creatively or succinctly for mediums ranging from blog posts to press releases

·         Ability to act creatively, pragmatically, and analytically as your daily work requires

·         Exceptional project management skills; ability to manage multiple, high-priority or complex projects at once

·         Portfolio featuring a variety of written, visual, and/or video content used across web channels
